Annual Lighthouse Beer Festival

Lighthouse Beer Festival At Greenfield Lake Amphitheater

The 9th Annual Beer Festival, hosted by Lighthouse Beer and Wine on October 15th, is changing venues to accommodate the burgeoning ranks of microbrew enthusiasts in the Wilmington area. After nine years at Hugh MacRae Park, the 2011 Lighthouse Beer Festival moves to a new venue 3400 Randall Parkway .

Owner and proprietor of Lighthouse Beer and Wine, Jason Adams, is excited about the new location. “Live music has always been a large part of the Beer Festival, and I know the new location will make the combined experience better than ever.” The festival has attracted an impressive list of bands over its history, including Eric Lindell, Ryan Bingham, and The Avett Brothers.

The Lighthouse Beer Festival draws almost 5000 beer enthusiasts from around the country for a single Saturday afternoon of tasting handcrafted microbrews from around the world. The event is from 1pm-5pm, with a limited number of VIP ticket-holders allowed in at noon. Free shuttle service is provided for festival goers after the event concludes. With nearly 100 breweries represented, the Lighthouse Beer Festival is the largest of its kind in eastern North Carolina.

While beer may be the star of the event, the focus is to raise money for charity. Over the past nine years, Lighthouse Beer & Wine has raised nearly $100,000 for The Carousel Center—a non-profit organization committed to aiding abused and neglected youth. With a new venue and growing community support, the festival hopes for its largest donation in the event’s history.

Tickets are on sale now at Lighthouse Beer & Wine in Wrightsville Beach, or online at LighthouseBeerAndWine.com.
