2012 Gala Call For Acts!

January 10th, 2012

Have you ever wanted to be on stage at Thalian Hall but didn’t think you had “what it took?”

Now is your chance…

and it is for a great cause!

The Carousel Center for Abused Children’s 2012 Gala Committee is looking for acts to perform during its “One Hit Wonder” stage event on March 17th beginning at 8:00 p.m. on the main stage at Thalian Hall.  This is a lip-syncing event so no actual singing talent is needed. Grab some friends or co-workers and work up a 2-3 minute act to the beat of a song everyone will know and love. Veteran theater production expert Steve Vernon can assist your group in fine tuning your act for maximum audience applause.

The time commitment is relatively low.  A run through will be scheduled at the Tileston Center on March 12th or 13th or our production crew can come to you.

In addition, a full cast rehearsal will take place the evening of the 15th.

All cast members can purchase a $25.00 cast pass which includes admission to the Red Carpet Reception (heavy hors d-oeuvres and open bar) as well as a CD copy of the show.

Encourage friends and family to attend the show and cheer you on. Tickets are $50 each (slightly obstructed view tickets $25).

If you’d like more information, please call Anna Murphy at 910-512-9100.

The Annual Carousel Center Gala: Rock n’ Roll Hall of Fame and More

    April 16, 2010

One, two, three o’clock, four o’clock rock
Five, six, seven o’clock, eight o’clock rock
Nine, ten, eleven o’clock, twelve o’clock rock
We’re gonna rock around the clock tonight!

Back in 1955, Bill Haley and the Comets used these lyrics to usher in the era of Rock n’ Roll, wowing audiences everywhere and making musical history. The one-night-only event on Friday, April 16, will showcase the talent of local community and business leaders who assume the identities of various Rock n’ Roll Hall of Famers, including Jerry Lee Lewis, Queen, Janis Joplin, The Beatles and KISS.
The program begins at 8 p.m. and is preceded by a Red Carpet reception from 6 p.m. to 7:45 p.m. Tickets are $50 per person for the show and $100 per person for the receptions and preferred seating at the show. Flounder Fishing Tournament – June 18,2011

    March 11th, 2011

    Tom Banks of MTS Services
holds yet another successful Flounder Fishing Tournament to benefit
The Carousel Center for Abused Children

On Saturday, June 18, 2011, Tom Banks of MTS held another successful flounder tournament with great weather.  For nine years this event has been made possible by hard work, planning and sponsorship by Tom Banks along with other sponsors, Commscope, Communications Supply, Hilti, Infranet Technologies, JPI, Carolinas Network Products, Inc., Belden, NPI Connect, JCI, Corning Cabling Systems, Accu Tech and PPD.  Some of these companies not only sponsor the event but they contribute by enjoying the festivities and fishing.  This years event casted in 74 anglers all hoping to catch the big one.

After a  couple frustrating catches the big one came in for Chris Hunt at 6.8 lb, 2nd place went to Mike Accattato with a 5.85 pounder, 3rd place went to angler Chase LeBlanc weighing in at 5.00 lb, 4th place winner was Capt. Mark Armstrong with a 4.25 lb flounder and 5th place winner came in at 4.15 lb to angler Brent Langdon.  Congratulations to all the winners and a huge thank you to all anglers and sponsors for your participation and contributions.

This year’s event raised over $14,000 which will support programs at the Carousel Center.  Over the past years the flounder tournament has  casted in over $100,00 to support the atrocity of child sexual and physical abuse here in Southeastern North Carolina.

A huge thank you to Inlet Watch for allowing us to use their grounds over the years, Matt Davis of Marine Copper Design for the beautiful plaques and Tex Tackle for donations and sponsorship.  The biggest thank you goes to Tom Banks, he does this every year with no demands from the center, he does all the work, donates from his pockets and gives 100% of the proceeds to the Carousel Center.  He’s a true angle of the children!

If you are interested in becoming a sponsor of this great event please contact Tom Banks at for more details  910-279-5713 or emailing tbanks@mtsservices.com..
