Jersey Mike’s Month of Giving to Benefit the Carousel Center

March 2nd, 2012

Help Support Jersey Mike's Month of Giving

March 2, 2012

The Carousel Center for Abused Children is joining forces with Jersey Mike’s Subs restaurants throughout the greater Wilmington area for the 2nd Annual March “Month of Giving.” The campaign will culminate in the nationwide event, Jersey Mike’s “Make A Difference Day” on Wednesday, March 28.

During the month of March, customers can make a donation to The Carousel Center for Abused Children at any of the five area Jersey Mike’s restaurants. Then on March 28, a special nationwide celebration, “Make A Difference Day,” will take place at all Jersey Mike’s locations to benefit 74 different charities with a mission to help children.

On that day, Wilmington residents are invited to come in to a local Jersey Mike’s store and enjoy a delicious sub meal. All area Jersey Mike’s restaurants will donate 50 percent of the day’s sales to The Carousel Center for Abused Children.

“We are thrilled to be partnering with Jersey Mike’s for this great event,” says Executive Director April Scott. “All funds donated will stay local and go toward direct services to aid child victims of rape and abuse. We encourage area residents and visitors to stop in, enjoy a great meal, and help a child in need.”

The inaugural Month of Giving campaign last year raised more than $600,000 for 66 charities nationwide and the hope is this year’s campaign will raise even more. In total last year, Jersey Mike’s locations throughout the country raised more than $2 million for worthy local charities and distributed more than 200,000 free sub sandwiches to help numerous causes.

“Our commitment to the Jersey Mike’s core value of giving back to the communities we serve has never been stronger,” said Peter Cancro, Jersey Mike’s founder and CEO, who started the company when he was only 17 years old. “We know our customers share this passion and, with their help, we hope to make a big difference in the lives of children throughout this country.”

2012 Gala Call For Acts!

January 10th, 2012

Have you ever wanted to be on stage at Thalian Hall but didn’t think you had “what it took?”

Now is your chance…

and it is for a great cause!

The Carousel Center for Abused Children’s 2012 Gala Committee is looking for acts to perform during its “One Hit Wonder” stage event on March 17th beginning at 8:00 p.m. on the main stage at Thalian Hall.  This is a lip-syncing event so no actual singing talent is needed. Grab some friends or co-workers and work up a 2-3 minute act to the beat of a song everyone will know and love. Veteran theater production expert Steve Vernon can assist your group in fine tuning your act for maximum audience applause.

The time commitment is relatively low.  A run through will be scheduled at the Tileston Center on March 12th or 13th or our production crew can come to you.

In addition, a full cast rehearsal will take place the evening of the 15th.

All cast members can purchase a $25.00 cast pass which includes admission to the Red Carpet Reception (heavy hors d-oeuvres and open bar) as well as a CD copy of the show.

Encourage friends and family to attend the show and cheer you on. Tickets are $50 each (slightly obstructed view tickets $25).

If you’d like more information, please call Anna Murphy at 910-512-9100.
