Project Description
Founded in 2018, The New Hanover County Resiliency Task Force is a coalition of organizations and individuals working together to make New Hanover County a compassionate and resilient community. The Task Force educates community members on the impacts of adverse experiences, trauma, and toxic stress on individual and community health, as well as the resiliency skills that can give us hope and help us heal. The Task Force also advocates for organizational and systems change so our community can better respond to existing trauma—especially trauma due to historical racial inequities—with knowledge, empathy, and compassion. In addition, the Task Force also creates opportunities for community members to form meaningful connections with one another through training, special events, and regular meetings with subcommittees and the Task Force at large.
