Part-Time Medical Provider – Child Advocacy

General Statement of Position Duties:

The Part-Time Medical Provider will conduct child-sensitive, forensically sound medical assessments for children and adolescents (ages birth-18 years) suspected of being sexually, physically, and/or emotionally maltreated. The position will involve collaboration with various investigative agencies, including the North Carolina Division of Social Services (DSS), NC Law Enforcement Agencies, NC Department of Justice, and other entities engaged in the multidisciplinary approach to child maltreatment cases.

The role includes providing court testimony in civil and/or criminal cases as requested and serving as an educational resource for child maltreatment training and continuing education for medical professionals and other disciplines. The Medical Provider may also be asked to provide medical consultation to law enforcement, DSS, or other healthcare professionals on child maltreatment issues.

Additional responsibilities include participation in the Committees as needed, which will be determined by the direct supervisor .

Required Education/Experience:

· Board Certification through ANCC or AANP is required.

· Master’s Degree or Doctorate in Nursing required.

· Rostered CME provider through the CMEP Program.

Position Specifications:

· Ability to work effectively with children, ensuring a compassionate and child-centered approach.

· Calm and composed in high-pressure or crisis situations.

· Ability to report for duty at any of our offices- New Hanover, Brunswick, or Pender to complete- Child Medical Evaluations. All staff are required to spend time at each facility.
