Partners in Prevention
TOGETHER WE WILL END CHILD SEXUAL ABUSE IN OUR COMMUNITIES!
The organizations and businesses listed below have joined The Carousel Center in the fight to prevent child sexual abuse as official Partners in Prevention! Awarded by the nonprofit, Darkness to Light, the Partner in Prevention distinction was created as a national standard to help parents and caregivers recognize organizations that are committed to protecting the children in their communities as well as build demand for education and prevention efforts.
As Partners in Prevention: We are educated, we are vigilant, we minimize opportunities for abuse to take place, we hold one another accountable, and we will take the personal risks necessary to intervene on behalf of children.
While there are currently 19 approved Partners in Prevention, 36 applications are submitted and/or are in the process of being submitted. Due to the overwhelming success of this program, Darkness to Light is experiencing delays in the approval process. However, stay tuned for new partnership announcements very soon.

Brigade Boys & Girls Club mission is to inspire and, through character development, enable all young people, especially those who need us most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring, responsible citizens. We know our Club members “vote with their feet.” We have to keep our programs fun and engaging in order to attract children and teens to the Club, while also designing programs in a way that helps members excel in school, become good citizens, and lead healthy, productive lives. We are constantly updating and redesigning our curriculums in order to keep content fresh and relevant for the children and teens we serve. That is why we offer a combination of both BGCA’s national programs and locally developed, supplemental programs in six core areas.

Port City Gymnastics in Wilmington, NC is dedicated to developing young people through artistic sports. We believe that children not only learn to develop strength, flexibility and agility through gymnastics, but that they also develop team attitudes, leadership skills and confidence. We train our students to carry these skills with them as they move towards success in all areas of their lives. All of our programs emphasize responsibility and respect in a positive and FUN family atmosphere. Everyone, regardless of level or potential, will receive personal attention and instruction in a limited student-to-teacher ratio. This ensures that every member will benefit physically, emotionally and mentally.

Keep Your Hands Off Me is a non-profit organization with a mission to raise awareness for an ongoing crisis of molestation while encouraging and promoting healthy healing. We currently offer three programs/services: a 6-week molestation boot camp, case management, and a parenting course. Our services allow our members to address their trauma and find healthy methods for healing, develop peer support groups, and receive comfort, support, and resources to ease the stress of other aspects of their everyday life. We also host public events and discussion panels in order to prevent child sexual abuse and bring awareness to the number of individuals that have survived abuse and are trying to heal every day. |

Founded in 2018, The New Hanover County Resiliency Task Force is a coalition of organizations and individuals working together to make New Hanover County a compassionate and resilient community. The Task Force educates community members on the impacts of adverse experiences, trauma, and toxic stress on individual and community health, as well as the resiliency skills that can give us hope and help us heal. The Task Force also advocates for organizational and systems change so our community can better respond to existing trauma—especially trauma due to historical racial inequities—with knowledge, empathy, and compassion. In addition, the Task Force also creates opportunities for community members to form meaningful connections with one another through training, special events, and regular meetings with subcommittees and the Task Force at large. |
